Proposed Use of West End TIF Funds for Habitat for Humanity Projects

 

Background

This project is being developed by Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati, a non-profit organization. Habitat has developed more than one hundred affordable homes in the Greater Cincinnati region. The proposed project will consist of four (4) 1,280 square feet three-bedroom single family homes. Each home will be built to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold standards. The four (4) units are all proposed to target households at 80% average-median-income (AMI) with sales prices of $190,000.

The applicant is requesting up to up to $225,000 in direct financial assistance from the West End tax increment financing (TIF) District affordable set-a-side to support the project.

Location and Existing Site

The subject properties are 515 York Street, 517 York Street, 519 York Street, 521 York Street in the West End.

Engagement 

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati gave a presentation of the project, and communication regarding available homeownership application with the West End Community Council in March and May during their monthly Council Meetings Additionally, they presented and held a discussion with West End Pastors at CityLink Center in December of 2023 and met with Seven Hills Neighborhood House to discuss the project in November of 2023 and June 2024.
